Leviticus: A Holy God and a Way to Draw Near<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I. Connecting to Exodus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • In Exodus<\/strong>, Israel builds the tabernacle, and God’s presence fills it (Ex. 40:34-38<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • But a problem remains: How can sinful people approach a holy God?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Leviticus<\/strong> provides the answer: Through atonement, God makes a way for His people to remain in His presence.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    II. The Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Only the high priest (Aaron) can enter the Holy of Holies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • He must offer a sacrifice for his own sins first (Lev. 16:6<\/em>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The Two Goats: Atonement and Removal of Sin<\/strong>\n

                III. How Leviticus 16 Points to Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                1. Jesus is the Greater High Priest<\/strong> (Hebrews 9:11-12, 7:26-27<\/em>)\n

                  • Unlike Aaron, Jesus does not need to offer sacrifices for Himself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • He enters the true Holy of Holies\u2014heaven itself\u2014to make atonement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • Jesus is the Ultimate Sacrifice<\/strong> (Hebrews 10:1-4, John 1:29<\/em>)\n

                    • His blood removes sin permanently<\/strong>, unlike the temporary animal sacrifices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • Jesus is our Scapegoat<\/strong> (Hebrews 13:12<\/em>)\n

                          Leviticus answers Exodus’ problem<\/strong>\u2014how can God dwell with a sinful people? The Day of Atonement<\/strong> provided a temporary solution, but Jesus fulfills it once and for all<\/strong>. Through Him, we confidently enter God\u2019s presence (Hebrews 4:14-16<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
